God, I hate Kurumi so much! She almost makes me like Bree.

We start chapter 2 with with Kurumi saying over and over “This must be a dream” as she goes down the airplane stairs. Because you know, being kidnapped by a violent douche you don’t know is the stuff of dreams. I’m sure Disney is working on a movie about it right about now.

Asshat tells her this is no dream and she just can’t believe it so he takes her in his arms and jumps 50 steps down. She takes this as a sign this is a dream and is disappointed. He laughs it off and says that he will show her his dream, since this is a dream. Can we stop this dream talk already?!

She gets all blushy over him, because what woman can resist a pretty face? He proceeds to order his men to take them home and watch over her or they will die. Yes, charming man indeed. Wonder where I can get one just like him.

Kurimi is distracted by the shiny lights of the city to give a though on her situation. Instead of being upset she thinks that this is just awesome (man, why don’t I get kidnapped?) and thanks him. Then this happens:

No, he’s not raping her. Instead he’s being a controlling bastard:

Because, you know, you can’t show her the dress and ask her to wear it, or take her shopping for one. No, you just pull her clothes without permission and order her to wear  a dress she might not like. But hey, he hasn’t given a single thought to her will once, why change the dynamic?

She goes on with the cinderella transformation and he’s pleased with her looks and takes her to his party. Everyone is looking at her, especially the woman who just envy her, and Kurumi is super exited. There Asshat makes an announcement:

Goddamit woman! He dragged you away from home, forced you into a situation without considering your feelings and declared you “his woman” the same way I claim ownership of my Xbox360. All of this while your sick mother is at home wondering where you are. This is not the moment to swoon! This is the moment to figure out how to run away.

She instead goes around eating and drinking with Asshat. She then gives a one panel thought for her family before pushing the thought away, because they don’t matter. Instead we focus on the beautiful women at the party who drag her to beat her up for daring to be with Asshat. The hussy!

They tell her how dangerous Asshat is and she can’t believe it. She runs away thinking he couldn’t hurt a fly and over hears him talking about how he has to kill somebody. This (gasp) shocks Kurumi, because so far he seemed like such a sweetie.

She gets half an idea by telling him she wants to go home. I say half an idea because running away from this guy is the right choice. The wrong choice is telling him about it because this happens:

And so this chapter ends on that creepy note. Yet I’m supposed to cheer for this couple? I can deal and like dark stories, what I can’t deal is with idiots.

At first I thought that Kurumi must have the mentality of a four-year-old: she forgets things easily, doesn't have a clear grasp of what's really going on, doesn't realize that this guy is really bad, and is trusting and utterly naive. Then, I realized that that was an insult to four-year-olds. That one moment where Hakuron sexually harassed her by tearing her clothes off without her permission? Not even a four-year-old would put up with that. If anything, a four-year-old would have a more reasonable reaction - he or she would be kicking and screaming at Hakuron to stop. Kurumi? Protests, yes, but then forgets all about it and even *thanks* him for the evening.

Does this girl have short-term memory loss or something? Did she hit her head when she was little, causing permanent brain damage? The only way that I think that she could be this naive would be if she had a severe mental or emotional disorder.

As for Hakuron... I hate to defend Edward here, but I think that Hakuron is worse. Edward is controlling, but at least he wouldn't tear Bella's clothes off without her permission just to get her to change her outfit. You could chalk it up to his inexperience and hesitancy in sexual matters (despite the original intent, taking someone's clothes off can be and is often construed as sexual) and his sense of propriety more than decency, but at least he wouldn't stoop that low.

And what the heck? "If Hakuron can easily get any woman, then I am lucky that he chose me." He probably can easily get any woman because he's a mafia boss, and he kidnaps and *threatens* them, you brain-dead moron! It's kind of hard to say no to a guy when he's threatening to kill you.

/She runs away thinking he couldn’t hurt a fly and over hears him talking about how he has to kill somebody. This (gasp) shocks Kurumi, because so far he seemed like such a sweetie./

How clueless can this girl be? Was she raised by rabbits or something? He threatened to rape her, drugged her, kidnapped her, and tore her clothes off without her permission! The warning signals that Edward gave off in "Twilight" are nothing compared to these! What does this guy have to do to let Kurumi know that he's a bad guy? Constantly wear a shirt that says "I'm Dangerous, Stay Away" or have a flashing neon sign hovering above his head that spells out "Trouble?"

I don't think Kurumi would get a clue even if we point a neon arrow on his head that says: "HORRIBLE BASTARD!!" I know for a fact she would still think considering what happened when I stopped reading this manga. She is just so... AAHH!!

And this couple is WAY worst than Bella/Edward. This manga is one of the reasons I don't get angry at the Bree Tanner novella. No matter how stupid, bad or annoying it gets I know it can't get Haou Airen bad.

Fanfic.
